The BYD Dolphin, which is the most affordable new electric car in Australia, has arrived in the country ahead of customer deliveries scheduled for next week. The base model, the Dolphin Dynamic, is priced at $38,890 plus on-road costs, making it $100 cheaper than its closest competitor, the MG 4 Excite 51. The Dolphin is a Toyota Corolla-sized hatchback and the smallest model offered by the Chinese electric car manufacturer in Australia. There are three models available: the Dynamic, the Premium, and the Sport. The Sport model, priced at $49,990 plus on-road costs, offers more power and additional features. EVDirect, the Australian distributor for BYD, reported more than 1000 pre-orders for the Dolphin, with the Premium model being the most popular. Test drives and customer deliveries are set to begin next week.
