    IPG Automotive Releases CarMaker 13.0 with Enhanced Visualization and New Features

    IPG Automotive has recently launched version 13.0 of its CarMaker product family, which provides users with a more realistic visualization of scenarios and models. This simulation and test software introduces new 3D models and an extended configurable ground truth sensor. Additionally, it offers a program that can be linked with virtual reality (VR) headsets for the first time.

    CarMaker is a simulation solution specifically designed for the development and seamless testing of cars and light-duty vehicles in all stages of their development process. It serves as an open integration and test platform that allows the implementation of virtual test scenarios for various application areas, including autonomous vehicles (AVs), advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), powertrain, and vehicle dynamics. The solution’s high-resolution 3D visualization tool ensures photorealistic quality and supports a wide range of standards and interfaces. It seamlessly integrates into existing tool landscapes.

    The latest version, CarMaker 13.0, introduces an HD city tunnel scenario that covers various edge cases with difficult lighting conditions, emergency bays, inner tunnel junctions, roadworks, and accidents. The inclusion of new 3D models allows for customized simulations, and users can integrate their own vehicle models into Movie NX without the need for third-party tools.

    To enhance efficiency and realism in scenario generation, the new simulator has extended processing capabilities for .kml files, improved visualization of road markings, and optimized import of HD Live Maps and OpenDRIVE. The background OpenScenario Converter now supports versions 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 of OpenScenario.

The high level of realism offered by Movie NX enables function tests and risk analyses in a detailed environment, fostering the development of new application areas.

    CarMaker 13.0 also introduces several other notable features, including an extended wheel suspension model, a new hydraulic brake model for integrated power brakes, a physical sensor API for user-specific signal processing, and a modularized IPGDriver model that allows for the consideration of different driver profiles in powertrain applications.
