Ready for Battle: A 1968 Mustang Pro Street with Fire-Breathing Power

This Insane 1968 Mustang Coupe Transformation Will Blow Your Mind

Prepare to be amazed! Lori Fedirko’s 1968 Mustang coupe has undergone a jaw-dropping transformation that will leave you speechless. From a simple birthday present to a fire-breathing beast, this Mustang named Drogon is the stuff of legends. If you’re a fan of Game of Thrones and the Mother of Dragons, you’re in for a treat.

Lori Fedirko, hailing from Germansville, Pennsylvania, didn’t inherit her passion for automobiles from her family. Her father wasn’t a car enthusiast, but he did instill in her a curiosity for understanding how things work. This natural curiosity led Lori down the path of auto mechanics. Alongside her day job in finance, Lori immersed herself in the world of cars, starting with a 1977 Camaro Z28.

But it wasn’t until she visited Old Bridge Township’s Raceway Park in New Jersey that Lori’s love for racing truly blossomed. Trips to the track became a regular occurrence, and she even took her Z28 for a spin, impressing everyone with her skills. Lori’s passion for cars continued to grow, and her collection expanded to include various vehicles. However, muscle cars always held a special place in her heart.

Fate brought Keith, Lori’s future husband, into her life on New Jersey’s Garden State Parkway. Their shared admiration for each other’s cars sparked a connection that would change Lori’s life forever. Keith, knowing Lori’s lifelong love for Mustangs, surprised her with a 1968 Mustang coupe for her birthday. It was a dream come true.

The Mustang, though in rough condition, had immense potential. The couple began by making safety and tech upgrades, ensuring that the Mustang was not only powerful but safe to drive. With power steering, disc brakes, and a new wiring system, the Mustang was on its way to becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Lori and Keith started attending local car shows with the Mustang, but they soon realized that some mechanical adjustments were necessary. They upgraded the radiator, added a transmission cooler, and fine-tuned the car’s performance. Once the mechanical upgrades were complete, they turned their attention to the cosmetic aspects, tailoring the Mustang to their liking.

But Lori’s vision went beyond a simple street car. She wanted the Mustang to embody the spirit of Pro Street, a concept that repurposes retired race cars for street use. To achieve this, they added wheelie bars, a parachute, and a custom rear wing. The Mustang now looked ready to take on any race.

However, the transformation didn’t stop there. The Fedirkos decided to give both the exterior and engine bay a makeover. The result was a sleek, blacked-out look that exuded power and dominance. With the Mustang back on the road, Lori pushed its limits, only to discover that the 302 cubic inch engine couldn’t handle the 12 pounds of boost.

Undeterred, the couple sought out a new engine and found a Dart block at TKM Performance. Paired with Air Flow Research heads and a stage 2 6-71 supercharger, the new powerplant boasted impressive horsepower, ranging from 800 to 1,300 depending on boost pressure and tuning. The Fedirkos also made additional upgrades, including a Performance Automatic transmission, a Mark Williams rearend, and upgraded instrumentation.

But this Mustang wasn’t just about performance; it was a work of art. The Fedirkos named the car Drogon, after the male red and black dragon from Game of Thrones. Custom touches like a windshield banner that read ‘Dracaris,’ a Targaryen family dragon crest on the back window, and the name ‘Drogon’ pressed into the rear wing added a touch of fantasy to this already extraordinary machine.

Since the rebuild, the Fedirkos have put about 1,000 miles on Drogon, using it to attend car shows and events. The car has become a crowd favorite, attracting attention from all generations. With its LED headlights, menacing appearance, and incredible performance, it’s no wonder that the Mustang captivates enthusiasts of all ages.

Lori Fedirko’s 1968 Mustang coupe, transformed into the legendary Drogon, is a testament to the power of passion, dedication, and a little bit of fantasy. From its humble beginnings as a birthday surprise, this Mustang has become a symbol of Lori’s love for cars and the incredible things that can be achieved when dreams become reality.

As Lori hopes to inspire more girls and women to pursue their automotive passions, Drogon continues to reign supreme, ready to unleash its power whenever the need arises. The passion and dedication poured into this Mustang serve as a reminder that with the right vision and determination, anything is possible.
