Tourism Guide: Exploring Weston-super-Mare and Worthing FC

Welcome to The Optima Stadium, home of the Seagulls! From its opening in 2004, this stadium has become the perfect venue for thrilling football matches. Join us as we explore the ins and outs of this remarkable sporting facility and get ready for an in-depth look at everything it has to offer.

Situated in Weston-super-Mare, The Optima Stadium boasts a capacity of 3,500, with 350 comfortable seats available for spectators. However, it’s important to note that half of the stadium, comprising one side and one end, lacks any facilities for fans, except for a small standing area around the perimeter fence and a tiny covered section behind one goal.

Now, let’s dive into the different sections of the stadium. The North End is home to the largest stand, a spacious covered terrace accommodating nearly 2,000 fans. Interestingly, this stand also includes a small block of seating, positioned directly behind the goal. With just four rows of seating, it allows for a terrace area behind and on each side. The perfect spot for avid supporters to gather, cheer, and create an electric atmosphere!

But what about tickets? Don’t worry, acquiring them is a breeze. Simply head to the turnstiles, which open 90 minutes before kick-off, and pay on the day. Here are the ticket prices:

    – Adults: £14.00
    – Concessions: £10.00
    – Under 16s: £4.50
    – Under 8s: Free
    – Family Ticket (2 adults, 2 U16s): £28.00

Now that you’ve got your tickets sorted, let’s talk about travel and parking options. If you’re arriving by road, take the M5 and exit at Junction 21. From there, follow the A370 towards Weston town centre. Pass through three roundabouts and, at the fourth (where McDonald’s is located), turn left into Winterstoke Road. Simply continue straight across the mini roundabout, over a railway bridge, and voila! You’ll find the stadium on your right-hand side. Additionally, there’s a decent-sized car park available for your convenience.

For those traveling by rail, Weston-super-Mare Railway Station is approximately a mile and a half away from the stadium – a leisurely 25-30 minute walk. Trains from Bristol Temple Meads conveniently serve this station. Once you exit the station, turn right and follow the station approach road until you reach a T-junction. Take a left turn, and at the next T-junction with the A370 dual carriageway, turn right. Continue along the A370, passing two roundabouts and an Asda store on your left. At the third roundabout, take the third exit onto Winterstoke Road, signposted Weston Industrial Estate. The stadium will be further down on your right.

Now that you’ve arrived at the stadium, let’s explore its facilities and nearby pubs. A visit to The Optima Stadium guarantees a relaxed and enjoyable day out. As most matches are not segregated, visiting fans have the opportunity to access the sizeable and comfortable Clubhouse during halftime. It’s the perfect place to meet fellow fans and discuss the exciting game unfolding before you.

If you’re looking for a pub nearby, the Walnut Tree on Winterstoke Road is a great choice. Just a ten-minute walk away from the stadium, you’ll find yourself in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. As you exit the stadium’s entrance, turn right, and the pub will be farther down on your left.
