CNS Honors North Amarillo Auto Parts as Small Business of the Year

In a recent Partners in Excellence supplier outreach event, Consolidated Nuclear Security (CNS) presented North Amarillo Auto Parts (NAAP) with the prestigious small business of the year award. NAAP, a locally owned and operated small business, has played a significant role in the success of Pantex’s mission by providing auto parts and maintenance supplies.

The outstanding service provided by NAAP, being a family-run company, has not gone unnoticed by the Pantex Vehicle Maintenance Facility (VMF) manager, Bob Barnhart. He emphasized that the relationship between NAAP and Pantex goes beyond mere business interactions, as NAAP consistently goes above and beyond to meet their needs.

Having been in business with Pantex for over two decades, NAAP’s dedication and commitment were also recognized in 2017 when they were honored as the small business of the year. Their unique ability to supply difficult-to-find parts has been a vital asset for Pantex’s VMF in maintaining their fleet of over 700 vehicles and 1,900 pieces of plant equipment, including low-speed vehicles, trailers, and forklifts.

NAAP’s services extend beyond providing auto parts, as they also manage inventory and ensure efficient material and part flow for the VMF. This partnership has been paramount in enhancing communication with manufacturers, ensuring on-time deliveries, and ultimately improving material availability, as acknowledged by Josh Holly, Pantex Vendor Managed Inventory lead.

CNS proudly awarded more than 60% of subcontracts at Pantex and Y-12 to small businesses during fiscal year 2023, surpassing their goal of 53.5%. This percentage includes various classifications of small businesses, such as small disadvantaged, woman-owned, veteran-owned, and service-disabled veteran-owned enterprises.
